I've had only the best experiences purchasing and wearing Gap brand cashmere, often to absolute shreds. As a reasonably priced retailer chock-full of versatile classics, Gap long ago became my source for timeless, affordable sweaters, sweaters which, over the years, have proven to be as solidly constructed as they are nicely designed. If you don't have the budget for higher-priced knitwear from the likes of VinceThe Elder Statesman or evenJ.Crew, Gap is an excellent place to start.
While my Gap cashmere range is already quite robust, I've been in the market for a preppy, slightly boyish crew neck for a while now. Naturally, my search led me to the San Francisco-based outfitter, where I discovered this beyond-basic (in a good way!) option that's loose and fitted in all the right places. It'd look just as effortless with a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots for errand-running as it would belted over a brocade skirt for a holiday dinner party. And at $148, it's pretty much the best price you could find for a piece of solid, grade-A cashmere.
