Blue Jean Baby, Denim Shoes for Spring 2016

Even more obvious than the painted cork trend, denim footwear is impossible to overlook this spring. From shoe maestro Blahnik to pacesetter Aquazzura, the industry brings us a playful spin on the classic jean twill.
From pumps to sandals, platforms to stilettos – each designer created a unique styles inspired by the blue Americana staple. Not only is denim is a reliable fabric perfect for everyday wear but it’s also an interestingly stylish shoe textile.
I particularly love Gianvito Rossi’s take, adding several denim designs to his spring collection which features a dark wash exaggerated with frayed patches. Both Fendi and Christian Louboutin combined a lighter shade with tropical floral printed leather. Jimmy Choo carries the most amount of denim styles this season adding a sleek contrasting black leather trim to several styles.

New York Fashion Week Shoes Spotted on the Runway: Fall 2016

Yes baby, it’s cold outside. But big-name designers have definitely turned up the temp with the sizzling hot shoes that hit their runways. From braided booties to strappy pumps, here are the shoes that stole the show (and our hearts).
Altuzarra-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Altuzarra-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Altuzarra
Some croc, Madame? Only Joseph Altuzarra can convince us on how over-the-knee boots with croc-effect leather, can artistically exhibit how aesthetics and practicality can really exist in footwear. With low block heels and neutral shades in black, navy or gray, we can see (and hopefully wear) these cropped and pony hair tall boots as one of fall 2016’s staples. And taking a detour from the reptile route, paisley-printed boots and ladder-strap pumps also graced the catwalk.
Derek-Lam-Fall-2016-New-York-Fashion-Week
Derek-Lam-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Derek Lam
Modern classicism ruled the Derek Lam runway. Low-heeled, lace-up stiletto booties redefine how fall footwear can be worn from day to night –maybe even forever? Our favorite –the high stacked heels cinched with a thin strap that wraps around the ankles –it’s badass and dainty at the same time. Other key, boot details include contrast piping and mesh cut-outs that complemented Lam’s luxe-minimalist sensibility.

Jason Wu
The Wu woman for Fall/Winter 2016 is refined, sexy, sophisticated and…comfortable! Velvet court shoes and kitten heels were paired elegantly with long leather coats and ultra-feminine black lace dresses. Classic slingbacks were updated with a chunky bow detail that wraps around the foot and heel–the perfect mix of strength and seduction. We think we’ve found our new work-to-play shoes!
Alexander-Wang-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Alexander Wang
It’s glam-goth in footwear. If punk princesses headed to the Upper East Side, these are the shoes they’ll be sporting. Wang complemented his marijuana leaf-decorated dresses with cap-toe-embellished combat boots, high-top sneakers, studded booties and creeper-soled Wallabees –all very stomp-worthy.
Prabal-Gurung-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Prabal Gurung
If a woman’s power was measured by the sharpness of her shoe, then the Prabal Gurung woman would be a superhero. Pointy ankle boots adorned with metallic silver toe caps were sleek and fierce. One of the shoe stand-outs was a pair of on-point (pun intended) below-the-knee leather boots in a stunning, midnight blue hue. However, the other strappy sandals with stiletto heels and sexy side cut-outs in laminated leather, are just as competent enough to stylishly save the day and rescue us from any sartorial rut.
Christian-Siriano-Fall-2016-Collection-New-York-Fashion-Week
Christian Siriano
Siriano shoes for Fall/Winter 2016 are a vibrant mix of texture, color and structure. Statement-making red and yellow, snake-stamped over-the-knee boots were given a playful touch with a thick plait that slithered from the top until the arches of the foot. It was a braid invasion –even stiletto heels and sandals were madeover with the feminine and flirty ropes.

Strappy Sandals for Spring 2016

In addition to the blooming flowers, welcoming sunshine and green grass, strappy open-toe sandals are another sign that spring has sprung. Before you know it, it will be time to pack the boots away, treat yourself to a pedi (we suggest trying Dior’s new lilac polish) and slip into some strappy sandals – strappier the better.
Here’s a look at our favorite new arrivals for Spring 2016:
Aquazzura-Tulum-lace-up-sandals-white-embellished
Aquazzura Tulum lace-up sandals embellished with fringe and gold-tone dome studs; available at Barneys.

London Fashion Week

When London (fashion week) calls, we put everything else on hold and marvel at the sartorial splendour that the British runways have to offer. And it definitely was London-love at first sight with all the stunning shoes!
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Preen
Preen
With “poetry groupie” as their muse, designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi fused romanticism with glam grunge. Black Victorian lace-up boots were the perfect punctuations to the moody floral dresses. Over-the-knee and ankle boots wrapped in bows are absolutely the most awesome presents to own this fall.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-House-of-Holland
House of Holland
With a throwback to the seventies and twenties, you can expect lots of color –that’s for sure. Henry Holland dressed his models in punk-rock shoes ready to hit the dance floor. The disco-appropriate boots literally captured the vibrancy of the ultra-cool decades with shimmery metals matched with super-saturated orange and fuchsia, paired with cheetah and zebra prints.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-JW-Anderson
JW Anderson
Shoes were mini sculptures at the Anderson runway. The plethora of colors and textures turned the accessories into show stopping artworks. Kitten heel booties were sharp, and had a fun, modern twist with its translucent PVC and silver and black crystal-detailing. Our favorite would be the square-toed mules embellished with shiny multicolored scales.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Julien Macdonald
Julien Macdonald
When you’ve got sparkly, leg-baring dresses to wear, you’ll need the perfect shoes to showcase your pins. Take cue from the Macdonald runway and pair your thigh-skimming frocks with ladder-style, open-toe boots fastened with buckles, or simple yet ultra-chic ankle-strap stilettos in that neutral nude hue we absolutely adore.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Burberry
Burberry
If moto jackets are the hottest toppers this season, Christopher Bailey created the most fitting “moto boot” to complement them with. The edgy boots with a low-heel carried a statement-making pilgrim buckle that accented the python print. Other boot details include brocade, studs and kilties.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Antonio Berardi
Antonio Berardi
The femme fatale who is dressed in a neck collar and velvet bodice with corset lacing will off course need a pair of bondage boots. Case in point: Pointy booties with side cut-outs and an ankle strap, or boots with high-shine leather and side buckles will help unleash your inner dominatrix.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Alexander-McQueen
Alexander McQueen
Expect to fashionably embrace your femininity this fall courtesy of Sarah Burton. Ankle-strap stilettos lined with fur, and sandals adorned with crystals and ostrich feathers that gracefully billowed down the runway will make all of us a little bit more flirtatious in the fall.
London-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Mulberry
Mulberry
Johnny Coca presented a very hip alternative to fall footwear. If ballet slippers were to get a hefty dose of heel, then you’ve got these Mulberry platform heels with punchy, yellow and orange supersized satin lacing. Mid-calf boots also with platform heels were color-blocked in black, white or maroon, and proved to be sleek, modern and very wearable too.

Milan Fashion Week Shoes Fall 2016

Our tour of the fashion capitals of the world continues. Next stop? Milan! Let’s take a closer look at our favorite Italian exports –nope, not the best-tasting pizza or the creamiest gelato there is –but shoes, of course! Whet your sartorial appetite with these shoes that are just, bellisima.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Dolce-Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana
Disney Princess wannabee? Dolce & Gabanna’s whimsical heels will make your fairy tale dreams come true. Metallic t-strap pumps were embellished with glitter, multicolored flowers and furry pompoms. PVC pumps were reminiscent of Cinderella’s glass slippers –you’d never want to leave a shoe behind, that’s for sure –midnight curfew or not.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Salvatore Ferragamo
Salvatore Ferragamo
Furry footwear also tickled the Ferragamo runway. Fur trim adorned the ankle strap on an otherwise classic, muted satin sandal. Toe caps of block-heeled pumps also got the furry treatment, giving the chic footwear the cozy touch of bathroom slippers. Zigzag-patterned lizard skin and suede booties and knee-highs were also playful and edgy additions to the flirty footwear collection.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Dsquared2
Dsquared2
Stilettos stole the show with its super ornate embellishments –tassels, cord lacing, beadwork, badges, ruffles, belts, straps and buckles were the perfect details to match the military mood of the edgy Victorian coats and Sargent jackets.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Prada
Prada
The Prada woman for fall is a traveller who treks, hikes and explores in style. Her nomadic footwear consists of lace-ups with wedge heels, multicolored laces and nautical detailing. Her Prada pilgrimage will continue with glossy patents and color-blocked leathers, adorned with golden buckles.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli
Now you can wear a pair of snakeskin platform boots for almost everyday of the week. The go-go boots came in a plethora of colors –black, gold, purple, blue and green –all snag-worthy for the glam-rock chicks out there.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Fendi
Fendi
Cropped and over-the-knee boots weren’t shy of details –the leg covering footwear were heavily dressed up in ruffled leather, scaling, garters and tapered heels. These beauties had an eye-catching color palette too, from cotton candy hues to super bold shades that would light up the streets in the fall.
Milan-Fashion-Week-Fausto-Puglisi
Fausto Puglisi
With Madonna mash-ups playing the background, you can definitely expect a show that is equal parts sexy, rebellious and edgy. Stomp-worthy combat boots were bedecked with studs and colorblocked with blue or green covering. Cowboy boots were studded and buckled –super sexy when paired with short skirts. Then there’s that pair of metallic gladiator boots that are extremely feminine, fierce and totally hot!
Milan-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Gucci
Gucci
Alessandro Michele described his dreamy collection as an ode to, as he said, “some of my passions” –the Seventies, The Renaissance and Street Style were celebrated through platform wedges paired with lustrous hosiery. Horse-bit loafers got a fun makeover and were spruced up with a pointed toe and block heels, while your classic round-toe Mary Janes turned into entrancing accessories with its optical illusion print.

Paris Fashion Week Shoes Fall 2016

Fashion month may have officially wrapped up, but we still aren’t ready to double-air-kiss goodbye the shoes we spied on the Paris catwalks. So grab a box of macarons and enjoy our little runway recap of the most stylish shoes that dazzled in the City of Light.

Balmain
Oliver Rouesting successfully showed how the female lines and curves can be celebrated even while completely covered up. Legs gained extra mileage with stretch suede boots that seemingly went on forever. The stilettos boots paired with opaque tights highlighted the sexy female form, without the skin doing a peek-a-boo act.
Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Lanvin
Lanvin
Matching the shiny brocade jackets, lacy tops and elegant evening gowns were chic and cool lace-up ankle booties with sneaker-like gold lace holes, pumps with chunky criss-cross straps and flat boots with button and snap details at the back shaft.
Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Christian-Dior
Christian Dior
It was a great display of modern aesthetics on the Dior runway. Lace-up, pointed-toe boots got multiple treatments –croc and snakeskin with cut-out details make for awesome work-to-play shoes. Their ankle heel counterparts are just as fab with its laces and side strap combo. The color and print blocking action, mixing reptile prints with neutrals, make these stunning shoes a staple in your mixing and matching pursuits.
Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Isabel-Marant
Isabel Marant
For club kids who always just want to have fun. Zebra-striped pixie booties were adorned with studs and the buckled flats were worn with matching socks for an overall boot effect that screams, 80s.
Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Balenciaga
Balenciaga
Your oversized ski jacket can now either be paired with go-go boots in your neutral color of choice, or satin pumps encrusted with sparkly accoutrements. And if you want your legs to be entirely covered in print, there are thigh-high boots for you with matching coats.

Ricardo Tisci has basically turned boots into pieces of clothing. The slender and sleek design either stopped at the knee or higher until it covered the leg like a pair of bottoms. Some sported nude toneswhile others in an edgier python print, accented with leather uppers flashing orange or gold hues. Metal heels also had a unique conical shape with graphic patterned in-lays.
